Baseball and Softball Lessons in Troy, AL
All Good Things Must Come to an End!
After 14 years of teaching thousands of youngsters, I am announcing my retirement from teaching baseball and softball to area ball players. Effective January 1, 2015, I will concentrate all of my efforts on Butter and Egg Adventures. I can't tell you how great it has been, for the past 14 years to work with each and every one of my students. You don't know how much it meant to me to see a young player get better, not just because of me, but because of their willingness to work to get better.
I stated coaching baseball in 1978, just after starting work for Troy State University. It all began with coaching Dixie Baseball and finished with American Legion Baseball in 1984. Along the way, I coached my son's team in Dixie Baseball, American Legion, and travel ball teams as they were just starting to emerge. In 2000, my wife and I bought the property we are now on and I started out by building a field to hit ground balls to my son, Brett. Camps were offered, a 2500 square foot facility was built (now our bunkhouse) and private lessons began for area players.
I never thought that it would grow to what it became, but it did. Five years ago, we built our 8000 square foot facility and it has been a blessing. It is used for so much more than baseball and softball and the plans for its future use are now being developed. Many of you know, that Butter and Egg Adventures has also grown by leaps and bounds. Over 13,000 people to have visited and used our facilities this year and people come from all over the country to experience our outdoor recreational facilities.
There are too many parents, friends, players, and coaches to list by name, but I want to thank each and every one of them for being a part of my dream. I only hope that I was able to help a player get better and to help them enjoy the great game of baseball and softball. I am not going anywhere, just going in a different direction.
