Troy Baseball, MVP Training Center in Troy to Offer Travel Ball Teams...Summer 2010

12 & Under on Sunday, April 25th, 2010     14 & Under on Saturday, May 1, 2010

During the year, Troy MVP Training Center of Troy, Alabama will offer an opportunity for area players to enjoy "Travel Ball".   Teams will be offered in Baseball (12U, 14U and High School) and Softball for ages 14-17. These teams will be coached by staff members of MVP Training Center and will not only include team practice sessions, but training opportunities to increase speed, agility and strength via additional workouts. 

These teams will travel to nearby tournaments, but tournaments will also be hosted at the MVP Training Center fields, in Troy.  With the completion of the new, 8000 square foot MVP Training Center, players will be able to practice year-round in a top-notch training center.  Players will have access to four cages, pitching mounds, pitching machines and conditioning equipment to help improve their skills.

Ron Pierce, owner-operator of Troy’s MVP Training Center since 2003, has coached competitive baseball for over 20 years. He will lead an experienced, competent staff in teaching both baseball and softball skills.  Former Troy University Trojan and San Francisco Giant Catcher Henry Gutierrez will work with all aspects of teaching, but his emphasis will be on developing catchers and teaching them correct fundamentals of the game.

Gutierrez will also be responsible for all aspects of conditioning including speed and agility training for all players.

Cassie Newman, former Troy University Trojan softball player, has been teaching at the MVP Training Center for three years and will lead softball instruction and coaching travel ball teams. Newman has vast experience in all aspects of the game and has a great understanding of the art of pitching.
